Our natal chart represents a picture of the sky at the time of our birth, but it is a static picture of the sky. Gochara or current transits show the current movement of the planets and their impact on our lives in relation to the natal chart – they represent a dynamic picture.

Gochara or transits are celestial transitions that mark the movement of the planets across the sky and our natal chart. In this way, they indicate favorable and unfavorable influences in a certain period – for example, Saturn in one sign stays for an average of 2 and a half years, Rahu and Ketu for 18 months, while Jupiter stays for 13 months. The other planets reside in one sign for about a month (except when they are retrograde), while the Moon resides in one sign for a little less than 3 days.
