Planetary Meditation

Planetary meditation is a meditation that uses bija mantras or the seed sounds of the planets.

Mantras are determined on the basis of the natal chart, so it is always best to consult a jyotishi before beginning planetary meditation.

Planetary meditation is a meditation that uses bija mantras or the seed sounds of the planets. For meditation, you have to sit comfortably, close your eyes, calm your breathing, and start to chant the mantra by uttering the initial voices of the root sound immediately after inhaling and exhaling the last vibrating voice slowly and for a long time – e.g. Ommmmmmmmmm.

You repeat the mantra 3, 9, 27, or 108 times.

Planetary meditation is sometimes performed daily, and sometimes only once a week depending on which planet it refers to.

Mantras are determined on the basis of the natal chart, so it is always best to consult a jyotishi before starting planetary meditation, because he / she can best tell you which mantra to use, in what period, when to change the mantra, which part of the body to focus on while the mantra is performed, whether and which yantra to use when meditating, what color to surround yourself with while meditating, etc.

Planetary meditations strengthen planets whose action is too weak, while calming planets whose action is too strong.

The seed sounds or bija mantras for the planets are:

  1. Surya (Sun) – SUM
  2. Chandra (Moon) – SOM
  3. Mangal (Mars) – AM
  4. Budh (Mercury) – BUM
  5. Guru (Jupiter) – GUM
  6. Shukra (Venus) – SHUM
  7. Shani (Saturn) – SHAM
  8. Rahu (north node) – RAM
  9. Ketu (south node) – KEM
